Class-wide function-based intervention teams: A research-to-practice agenda for Functional Behavior Assessment

Description
This project is studying the effectiveness of Comprehensive Function-Based Intervention Teams with elementary students who have or who are at risk for Serious Behavior Disorders (SBD). A Function-Based Intervention includes four elements: communication and social skills, extinction (not attending to or otherwise reimforcing inappropriate behaviors), differential reinforcement (providing reinforcement on a consistent basis to appropriate behaviors) and self-management. Functional Behavior Assessment and individualized Function-Based Intervention is provided for students with more challenging behaviors. The project is studying the effectiveness of the intervention on classroom behavior, social skills development, peer interactions, teacher and parent satisfaction and the effect of improved behavior on learning.
