Women's educational equity programThis is a current project. DescriptionThis project is addressing the need for meaningful employment for young adult women with developmental disabilities (DD). Women with DD are less likely to be employed and those who work tend to be employed in poorer types of jobs and earn lower wages. Researchers are providing young women in Kansas high schools and middle schools with career development, job exploration and employment planning. Also, a curriculum called "Girls at Work," which includes computerized modules promoting self-directed career choice, has been developed and is being used by young women with disabilities through the KU Blackboard system.
