Augmentative and alternative communication in the schools: Leadership and access


This is a current project.


Description

This training grant is for speech-language pathology graduate students who plan to work with children who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Children who learn to use AAC typically have severe communication disorders resulting from mental retardation or developmental delay, cerebral palsy, autism, Specific Language Impairments (SLI) or loss or impairment of speech. The project features collaboration among practicing teachers, graduate students and families, school-based fieldwork and distance learning.
