The affiliated centers and projects of the Life Span Institute put research in action for thousands of people of all ages and their communities in Kansas, the nation and the world.

Some examples:

Life Span Institute affiliated researchers and clinicians offer developmental disabilities assessment, treatment and training services at the Child Health and Development Center and clinics are often "taken on the road" to other parts of Kansas. Assessments are also available through telemedicine services.

LSI researchers have also taken the lead in developing an extensive network of resources to get assistive technology products to the Kansans who need them, including establishing regional service centers, a loan cooperative, a try before you buy equipment loan bank, and a reuse and recycle equipment network.

The centers also develop comprehensive online resources to empower individuals, families, organizations and communities help themselves such as the Beach Center on Disability Communities of Practice, Community Toolbox at and the Research Information for Independent Living.

There are also opportunities for families and individuals to participate in research projects directly. The current needs for participants, if any, are listed on this page.
